Summary
Congratulations! You just finished Module 1 of LUNA. This week, we introduced you to the program and how to use the different materials on this website. You also learned some information about anxiety and thought about which fears and anxieties your child might like to work on. Completing the LUNA modules and helping your child overcome anxiety will be a challenging but rewarding process. Team effort is the way to go! Help your child understand that LUNA will teach them how to manage their fears, allowing them to accomplish their goals.
If it applies to your child, you might have also learned about how autistic youth may experience anxiety in unique ways and how anxiety can interact with other emotional problems and behaviors. Below are some summary points to take away from this module:
- Everyone experiences anxiety. Anxiety can be helpful, but too much of it can become a problem.
- It can be hard for kids and teens to understand why they are feeling anxious and communicate their anxiety. LUNA gives kids tools to talk about their anxiety as well.
- Setting goals can be difficult, but it is also very important. Use the Setting My Goals worksheet to keep track of your goals for your child.
- Goals should be specific, measurable, and achievable.
Over the next week:
Continue to think about your goals for your child and make sure they are specific, measurable and achievable. Keep track of them using the Setting My Goals worksheet and be sure to refer to them often!
