The quick answer is whatever works best for your child and whatever you can keep up with.
Brave Bucks are typically used with older kids who understand the connection between an abstract ‘point’ (Brave Buck) and the later reward. Younger children may have trouble waiting for a reward. If you are using Brave Bucks, it may take some time for your child to make a connection between earning a Brave Buck and getting a reward at a later time. If you notice this, try to integrate the use of more direct rewards in addition to the Brave Bucks. Your child may earn a reward for doing homework and earn Brave Bucks for smaller tasks like following through directions when doing an activity.
Alternatively, you could start with some small direct rewards and slowly transition to the Brave Bucks once your child gets used to receiving rewards. Regardless of what you decide to do, make sure to be consistent, set clear expectations for your child, and follow through with the plan.
