Your Turn to Practice

If your child is working on through the Teen Modules, they will be able to choose the same module under the title “Working on Mission Plans Related to Autism”. There, your child will be able to read about fears that some autistic children have and how to make mission plans for those fears.

After your child reads this module, take some time to talk to them and see whether both of you think you need a new mission plan for a fear that has a component of autism. If so, go back to Module 4 and create a new mission plan.

If your child is working through the Child Modules, they will not have this module included. Rather, they will be reminded of the importance of practicing the activities in their mission plan for Module 9. If you think your child needs a mission plan for a fear that has a component of autism, talk to your child about it and make a new mission plan by referring to Module 4

Regardless of your child’s age, when you are making a mission plan for fear or anxiety related to autism features, make sure to work together with your child. Ask what they think is doable for them, what they need and what they prefer. Sometimes, children might surprise us by telling us something that we never thought of!
