Congratulations! You’ve just learned all the steps needed to help your child create their first plan of action. Use the My Plan of Action worksheet to organize your goal activity, exposure activities, anxiety scale ratings, and rewards.
Even if you found some of this material confusing or are still not sure what to do, you have taken an important step by learning about and thinking about exposure activities and plans. Take a deep breath and give yourself some credit for taking the time to learn all this information!
This week, we explained that the purpose of a Plan of Action is to help your child overcome their fears by gradually exposing them to fearful situations. You also learned the steps for creating a plan of action:
- Choose the fear or anxiety you want to target.
- Choose a goal activity for your plan of action.
- Brainstorm different exposure activities for your plan of action.
- Using the anxiety intensity scale, have your child give each activity a rating from 0 to 10.
- Order the activities from least to most scary.
- Choose a different motivation booster OR number of points to assign to each activity.
Over the next week, remember to...
