Congratulations! You just finished Module 3

Content

This week, we have talked about many different ways that you and your child can cope with anxiety. Finding coping skills that will work for your child can take time; you and your child may have to come back to this week multiple times so that you can continue practicing. Below are some summary points to keep in mind as you and your child continue to practice coping skills:

  1. Identifying anxiety is important because it lets us know when we need to use coping skills.
  2. Coping skills can help us feel calm. Find skills that work for your child that can be used to relax when they are not in an anxiety-provoking situation (e.g., reading, drawing), as well as those that can be used when they face situations that cause anxiety (e.g., deep breathing, having a fidget toy, 5-4-3-2-1).
  3. Coping skills should be used to help your child face their fears.

Over the next week:

  1. Practice the two coping tools you identified this week regularly. Try your best to find a time when you can practice each day. Here is the Coping Skills Tracking Form again you can use to keep track of your practice.
  2. Your child can earn rewards for practicing coping tools.
