As you have learned, anxiety is a normal part of being human. So even though you have made a lot of progress, it is important to remember that anxiety can increase again. In fact, escalations in anxiety are expected!
When this happens, you know what to do! Think about what has helped you cope in the past and how you can make a mission plan to work on this fear.
If you do not know what to do, or have tried to deal with your anxiety on your own and are still feeling super anxious, you should talk to an adult you trust who can help.
Who did LUNA with you? That would be a great person to talk to about your fears and worries because they have learned these skills with you! Take a moment to think about anyone else that you can talk to about your fears and worries when they come up in the future, and write their names down on this worksheet: Who to Talk to About My Fears and Worries.
Planning for Anxiety in the Future
You have been working so hard to overcome your anxiety, so it is important to plan how you will deal with anxiety in the future so that you can continue to make progress.
After discussing with your parent, think about anxiety-related obstacles that you might face in the future and answer the questions on this worksheet to make a plan for how you will deal with your anxiety: Planning for the Future. Or, make your own with the following prompt:
- What are some fears and worries that you want to keep working on? Are there any goals that you have not had time to work on but still want to do?
- Is anything going to happen soon that might make you anxious?
- How will you tackle these goals? Do you need to make a mission plan? If so, look back at Module 4 to make a new mission plan!
If you and your parent decide you need to make a new mission plan to tackle these new goals, work with your parent to create another mission plan. Go back to Module 4 and follow the steps just like you did before!
Don’t forget to use the Mission Plan Planning Worksheet, Weekly Practice Plan, and Mission Plan Practice Log when planning your steps.
