Leopard Pantry

Baylor College of Medicine recognizes that food insecurity can have a profound impact on medical students. Limited financial resources or limited time to go grocery shopping can make it difficult for students to access affordable, nutritious food. Lack of food and anxiety about access to food can increase the risk of depression, missed coursework, and poor academic performance.

To support medical students facing food insecurity, the Baylor College of Medicine – Temple Campus has partnered with Temple College to provide students access to the Leopard Pantry. Located in the Arnold Student Union (ASU) on the Temple College campus, the Leopard Pantry offers a variety of non-perishable food items, including canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, and snacks. The food pantry is designed to supplement students’ food needs and is not intended to fully stock their pantries.

To access the Leopard Pantry, BCM-Temple medical students must present their BCM ID to pantry staff for verification purposes only. The Leopard Pantry will not track or report individuals’ use of the service to BCM.

Guidelines

  • Please bring a recycled shopping bag, box, plastic shopping bag, or similar container to carry food items.
  • Please have your BCM ID.
  • On the first visit, you will be asked to complete a short intake form.
  • You may select 15 items per weekly visit to the Leopard Food Pantry. This is to help ensure we have adequate food for everyone who needs it. Please be patient with staff and volunteers while items are confirmed.
