Call for Abstracts: 2023 Houston Nutrition & Obesity Symposium, Nov. 4

The prevalence of nutritional disorders, e.g. obesity, has been increasing at an alarming rate. In particular, Texas ranks among the top ten states in the U.S. with the highest obesity rates, while the greater metropolitan area of Houston has the highest obesity rate in the state of Texas.

The greater Houston area, comprised of over 60 medical institutions, is emerging as a “hub” for clinical, translational and basic research in nutrition, obesity and metabolic disorders. To foster cross-institutional collaborations across the greater Houston area and to facilitate development of multi-center research networks, we are planning a one-day 2023 Houston Nutrition & Obesity Symposium on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Institute of Molecular Medicine Beth Robertson Auditorium (first floor of the Sarofim Research Building, 1825 Pressler Street, Houston, 77030). You and your trainees are invited to join the Symposium and present your recent research in the form of an oral or poster presentation.

There is no registration fee. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. If you and/or your trainees plan to attend the symposium, please submit your abstracts (one-page word file, no more than 250 words including title, authors, affiliation, and abstract) to Tiffany.Jacobo@bcm.edu before October 13, 2023. Oral presentations will be selected by a committee based on review of abstracts. Please also inform Tiffany.Jacobo@bcm.edu if you plan to attend the Symposium without an abstract.
