The Primary Care Postdoctoral Fellowship is open to physicians who have completed a primary care residency program or to graduates of a doctoral program in a discipline related to primary care research, such as nursing, psychology, and epidemiology.

Content

Physicians without a graduate level degree in research methodology will be able to obtain either an MPH from The University of Texas School of Public Health or an MS degree for completion of the Clinical Scientist Training Program at Baylor College of Medicine.

Formal courses in specialized content are available to physicians throughout the fellowship.

Individualized research mentorship from the onset of the fellowship with productivity milestones including collection and analysis of data, preparation and submission of manuscripts and grant proposals.

Opportunities for physicians to maintain their clinical skills.

Faculty in these units have an extensive portfolio of funded primary care research, including health care quality improvement, doctor-patient communication, health decision-making, particularly in low literacy and bilingual groups, clinical epidemiology and outcomes, health behavior and primary care management of hypertension, diabetes and obesity.
