Elective Courses
Electives are an excellent opportunity for fourth-year medical students to expand and solidify the student's surgical knowledge base, and to practice clinical skills. Elective courses are offered in four-week segments and registration for electives is processed for Baylor College of Medicine students through the Office of the Registrar.
The Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery also welcomes fourth-year medical students in good standing from medical schools in the United States and Canada to Baylor College of Medicine as elective students. Requests for electives are handled through the AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) system.
