About the ICTR

Content

The Institute for Clinical and Translational Research provides services and resources for Baylor College of Medicine faculty across the continuum of clinical and translational science to support the transition of medical discovery into high-quality patient care. A preeminent piece of Baylor’s Learning Health System, the ICTR provides a learning environment through the integration of diverse data domains to support research and development of new approaches that improve healthcare delivery.

ICTR provides seven service cores, offering everything from study design and protocol development to consultations for informatics research. To request services, fill out the Service Request Form.

Business and Research Operations Core

Item Definition

Provides administrative support for clinical studies, BRAIN submissions, grant submissions, science writing and proposal review and editing.

Biostatistics Core

Item Definition

Assists investigators with study design, data analysis, reporting, and applied biostatistics.

Clinical Studies Core

Item Definition

Assists investigators with protocol development, IRB submissions, operations manual development, study recruitment, data collection, and study closeout.

Database Mining and Analytics Core

Item Definition

Assists with extracting data from public databases for analysis, provides meta-analysis of existing omics to justify research strategy, and interpretation of data to evaluate relevance to research proposals.

Data Science Core

Item Definition

Assists with data acquisition from data warehouses and repositories, bulk data processing for analyses, data construction, software development, and data visualization.

Genomic Bioinformatics Core

Item Definition

Provides bulk RNA-sea analysis, whole-exome sequencing analysis, single-cell RNA-seq analysis, and provides consultation on preparing grant proposals.

Medical Informatics Core

Item Definition

Assists investigators with extracting analytic data sets, provides guidance on dashboards and data sharing, provides access to data to support trial recruiting and feasibility for grant applications.
