Trainees Present Research at 2024 NUTRITION Meeting, Recognized for Excellence

Three trainees from the Moran Lab attended the annual meeting of the American Society for Nutrition in Chicago. Postdoc trainee Megumi Seese, PhD's research on carotenoid status across pregnancy and medical student trainee Anna Norman, BS's research on genetic determinants of skin and plasma carotenoid status were recognized with poster competition awards from the Carotenoid and Vitamin A Research Interest Group (CARIG). Katelyn Senkus, PhD's research was selected for an oral presentation. Congratulations to our outstanding trainees for these recognitions of their outstanding research progress!

Dr. Moran and other experts on nutrition and cancer from around the world discussed some foods related to cancer risk reduction with author, Nikki Campo for an article entitled "Can Certain Foods Really Reduce Your Cancer Risk?" Eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables is important to our health. However, it can be hard to recall our fruit and vegetable intake. In a recent study published in Public Health Nutrition, researchers at the USDA/ARS Children’s Nutrition Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine collaborated with other researchers from across the country to explore whether a new technological device can be used to accurately estimate someone’s fruit and vegetable intake.
