The overarching theme of our research is to translate the study of genetic and epigenetic regulation of cardiovascular disease into novel therapeutic approaches.

One area of our research combines molecular biology, cell biology and animal models to understand the intricate interplay of genes and the environment, in particular the circadian rhythm. Our current work focuses on the peripheral oscillatory regulation in the heart, our projects range from the core clock, to the slave clock, to the effectors as detailed below.

Another area focuses on clinical translational research by studying patients with inherited heart diseases using induced pluripotent stem cell differentiated cardiomyocyte model. We use patient cells and their isogenic controls and a battery of phenotyping tools to understand the disease mechanism and test novel therapeutic strategies. We also created a series of tools for clinical variant interpretation using this platform.
