About the Lab

Content

Our lab seeks to address links between alterations in nutrient metabolism and health. We apply a variety of molecular biology, cell culture, and in vivo metabolic phenotyping techniques using transgenic mice to study obesity and associated pathologies, such as dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. We have three physiological areas of interest: 1.) adipocyte metabolism and consequent effects on adipose tissue function, 2.) hepatocyte metabolism and development of chronic liver disease, and 3.) immunometabolism and its impact on inflammation in metabolic tissues. The aim of our research is to identify new prevention and treatment strategies for patients at risk for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement: Our lab strives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in scientific research.
