Professional Statement

As an inclusive educator and scholar, I am dedicated to contributing to future innovations and scholarship. My experience working with disadvantaged learners has shaped my ethos of care and support for diverse backgrounds, driving my commitment to their success and well-being. My ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between foundational and clinical sciences, foster self-growth, and promote active learning to prepare the next generation of experts in 21st-century medicine.

In my research and scholarship endeavors, I strive to foster mastery learning through innovative curricular design, educational technology, and assessment strategies. I focus on creating an inclusive learning environment that supports self-directed learning and integrates foundational sciences into a world-class medical curriculum. By leveraging modern education trends and instructional tools, I ensure an engaging and effective learning experience for health professional students from diverse backgrounds.

With over 12 years of experience as an educator and content creator, I have a proven track record of delivering clinically relevant instruction in biomedical sciences. My expertise lies in curriculum development, student-centered learning techniques, faculty development, and content creation using various educational technology platforms. Currently, I hold the positions of Associate Director of the MS 1 foundational sciences curriculum and Thread Director for Pharmacology at Baylor College of Medicine’s School of Medicine.
