Professional Statement
Dr. Mostafa Belghasem is a physician-scientist and a passionate biomedical educator. At BCM, he will serve as the Pathology Co-Thread Director.Dr. Belghasem has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to teaching and mentoring medical students, graduate medical students, residents, and research fellows. He has implemented innovative instructional design strategies and learning methodologies that foster active learning, clinical reasoning and teamwork. Dr. Belghasem has also supported faculty in implementing new instructional methods to ensure continuous improvement and excellence in educational design. In line with these attributes, he is recognized nationally and has won prestigious awards. Most recently, he has won the 2022 “Raise the Line Faculty Award” for the MD/ DO Category. This award is offered by Osmosis from Elsevier to recognize the work of exceptional health educators who are helping to “raise the line” by improving the medical education standards. Dr. Belghasem is highly committed to research and is presently engaged in many fruitful national-level collaborations that allow him to continue to make valuable contributions to science.
