Professional Statement
I utilize a combination of machine learning, biostatistics, and GIS/spatial statistics techniques to investigate the social determinants of health and disease prevalence, both within the U.S. veteran population and in broader contexts. My research is dedicated to exploring how environmental conditions impact health outcomes, with a particular focus on the places where individuals are born, reside, learn, work, engage in recreational activities, and age.Additionally, I have a strong passion for studying the geographical distribution of infectious diseases within a spatiotemporal framework. My work extends beyond health determinants and prevalence to encompass the intricate interplay of disease patterns across geographic areas.
I also maintain a keen interest in the quantitative assessment and evaluation of programs in medical schools and other higher education institutions. Specifically, I am interested in access and equity, curriculum design, instructional methodologies, and mentoring approaches to enhance educational outcomes for medical students, alleviate burnout, and improve retention rates.
Through my research and analysis, I strive to identify effective strategies that foster student success, well-being, and sustained engagement in medical education. By leveraging data and employing rigorous statistical and evaluation methodologies, I actively contribute to the development of evidence-based practices that can have a positive and lasting impact on medical education programs.
