Professional Statement
After growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania, I studied biochemistry at Temple University in Philadelphia. My interest in genetics and molecular biology led me to work in research labs during college. After graduating, however, I had a desire to learn more about other cultures and ways of life. I moved abroad for 5 years, first to Italy, then to South Korea, and finally to Spain, to teach English. It was living abroad and experiencing issues with access to healthcare that inspired me to pursue a career in that field. Although I loved teaching, my desire to return to science and my interest in genetics and research ultimately pointed me towards genetic counseling.I am excited to be a student here at Baylor where I am supported by faculty who are the best at what they do. I look forward to making a meaningful difference in the lives of my future patients and contributing to furthering the field of genetic counseling through research.
