Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Faculty Baylor College of Medicine Houston, Texas United States Katy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been serving families and colleagues at Baylor College of Medicine since 2021. She began as a Senior Medical Social Worker as part of the TCHATT initiative, providing compassionate, evidence-based teletherapy to k-12 students and families.
In 2023 Katy transitioned to Baylor Psychiatry Clinic where she provides in-person and teletherapy to groups and individuals age 17 and up. In 2023, Katy became the therapy team lead and manages therapy matches for patients and the therapy wait list at the clinic, in addition to assisting in research initiatives. Katy provides leadership and guidance to social work and psychology interns and psychiatry residents to ensure clients receive ethical, empathetic therapy at BPC. Katy's own clinical work is based on Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, the Unified Protocol of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. She applies the lens of the person-in-environment model and uses a strengths-based approach underpinned by principles of mindful self-compassion. Katy finds it especially rewarding to collaborate with clients to overcome difficulties related to trauma, anxiety, relationship struggles, perfectionism, and self-esteem.
Prior to joining the Baylor College of Medicine team, Katy provided care to clients in diverse therapy environments including a mental health hospital, a community nonprofit, and private practice. Before pursuing an MSW, Katy served as Director of Communications for a small nonprofit school in Houston for 5 years. She brings her communication background to both her client work and her interdisciplinary teamwork with colleagues.
