Professional Statement
I graduated from Bellarmine University in 2022 where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology. During my undergraduate years, I held many leadership positions involved in orientation and student government association as well as I served as the student commuter chair for the university. As a first-year student, I was introduced to the field of genetic counseling and fell in love with the idea that I could combine my interest in science with my interest in counseling. After graduation, I moved to the Cincinnati tristate area and worked as a Genetic Navigator for a local hospital. This allowed me to work with genetic counselors each day and learn the ins and outs of their many roles. At that time, I also volunteered for Crisis Text Line and Special Olympics Kentucky, where I recognized the impact of emotional and social support. Now, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to learn from the wonderful faculty at Baylor College of Medicine as a graduate student in the Genetic Counseling Program. The diverse population in the Texas Medical Center will allow me to get a deeper dive into many specialties and other learning opportunities.
