Professional Statement
Pediatric Critical Care Medicine is a high risk environment with infinite opportunities for improvement in clinical care, collaboration, and communication. Healthcare simulation provides the ability to rehearse high risk scenarios. I believe that "all the world's a stage" and healthcare professionals can employ the same techniques actors, dancers, and musicians use to create memorable performances to form high functioning teams with excellent clinical performances. Through a unique collaboration with the Theater community, we are targeting unconscious biases counterproductive to effective teamwork and communication through traditional acting and improvisational exercises, and studying how those improvements translate to simulated and clinical scenarios.Websites
