Professional Statement
My research centers on understanding of the immunology of vaccine responses in pathogens of public health importance and fosters innovation to improve these responses. I have particular interest and experience in vaccine clinical trials. The future direction of my research involves assessing vaccine strategies that will lead to improved immunogenicity and efficacy in immunocompromised persons. I perform team science through collaboration with the Baylor Vaccine Research Center and the NIH-funded Vaccine Treatment Evaluation Unit (VTEU) at Baylor College of Medicine.I strive to provide compassionate patient-centered care and innovation in the treatment of HIV and other infectious diseases. My clinical interests center around providing excellent care to underserved populations living with HIV, TB, and other infectious diseases in the US and abroad.
I wholeheartedly teach medical students, residents, and infectious disease follows infectious diseases and vaccinology at Baylor College of Medicine and on infectious diseases inpatient rotations at Ben Taub Hospital through the Harris Health System.
