Professional Statement
I graduated from the University of Missouri in May 2024 with degrees in Biological Sciences and Psychology. During my time at the University of Missouri, I strived to maintain leadership positions, expand my knowledge of genetics, and obtain client advocacy experiences. In undergrad, I worked as a crisis counselor for the 988 National Suicide Prevention Line. Through this role, I provided suicide prevention support and helpful counseling to individuals in an emotional crisis. My time as a crisis counselor built my confidence in my capability to care for those in high-risk situations. I also had the opportunity to volunteer with Services for Independent Living (SIL) as an activities volunteer to help in education group activities. This valuable experience helped individuals with disabilities feel empowered through educational services and promoted a positive environment. While volunteering at SIL I was able to collaborate with The University of Missouri’s disability center to create an advocacy course for college students with disabilities. Providing a safe space for individuals to ask questions, gain confidence in their ability to speak up for themselves, and receive support from their peers was rewarding. Furthermore, my university hosts the two largest blood drives in the nation and throughout undergrad, I participated in multiple blood drive committees and served as a blood drive director. Educating people on the importance of donating blood has become one of my passions and is an area of volunteer leadership I hope to continue to build. I am ecstatic to be home in Houston to pursue my master's degree and be a part of Baylor’s GC class of 2026! I am happy to talk to prospective students about the application process, Houston, or BCM.
