Professional Statement
Dr. Peng graduated magna cum laude from Duke University and was inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He attended medical school at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical society as a Junior and recognized by the American College of Physicians as a Young Achiever. At Jefferson, he participated in the Physician Executive Leadership program, where he learned about health policy, organizational management, and value-based care models. He completed his internal medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine and served as Chief Resident in Quality and Patient Safety (CRQS) at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center during the 2021-2022 academic year. He is currently one of the fellow physician representatives on the ACGME CLER Evaluation Committee, AGA Quality Committee, and AGA Trainee and Early Career Committee.An aspiring physician executive with clinical interests in digestive diseases with emphasis on management of metabolic processes (e.g., obesity, steatotic liver disease), Dr. Peng has experience working in the higher education industry and a high reliability organization that promotes a Just Culture and Zero Harm. He is Yellow Belt Certified in Lean Six Sigma and started Gastroenterology/Hepatology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in July 2022.
