Data sets from the National Acute Brain Injury Study: Hypothermia (NABISH) projects will be reviewed, analyzed, and mapped to existing FITBIR data structures; selected variables that do not map to existing International Common Data Elements (CDE), as incorporated into FITBIR, will be identified, described, and formatted for inclusion as Unique Data Elements (UDE) per FITBIR procedures.

The imaging data from all project sites in the parent study will undergo centralized analysis by a pediatric neuroradiologist to derive Federal Interagency Traumatic Brain Injury Research (FITBIR)-compatible, comprehensive neuroimaging CDEs for TBI.

- The major goals of this project are to investigate the effects of mild traumatic brain injury through a converging fMRI study of attention networks wherein we would integrate DTI measurement of injury to tracts with analysis of fMRI data. In addition, we propose the evaluation of TBI effects on resting state connectivity of the default mode network (DMN), a network which has been implicated in attention and exhibits changes with both mTBI and PTSD.
