Professional Statement
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Biology from Georgia Southern University in 2023. During my time at Georgia Southern, I spent time volunteering at High Hope, a non-profit day program for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. I also coordinated events to raise money for the Girl Scouts and Prevent Child Abuse America.
After graduation, I began my position as the Genetic Counseling Assistant in pediatric neurology at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. In this position, I provided clinical operations support for the genetic counseling service line, coordinated department-wide genetic testing, and led data collection and entry for several databasing projects. During my time in this position, I was introduced to the muscular dystrophy community through the Judson Hawk neuromuscular clinic. I fostered relationships with the muscular dystrophy community through volunteer experiences which reaffirmed my passion for genetic counseling.
I am ecstatic to continue my education through the Baylor College of Medicine Genetic Counseling Program. In my time at BCM, I hope to advocate for individuals with genetic conditions while increasing access to genetic counseling services. Please reach out if you have any questions!
