Professional Statement
I am originally from Lindale, Texas where I graduated from Lindale High School. I attended the University of Houston where I graduated with honors with a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in English Literature. I have an interest in the intersection between science and the humanities and how this applies to patient care in genetic counseling. During my undergraduate, I worked as a peer facilitator for the Biology and Biochemistry department where we collaborated to help science students bolster their academic success in their Biology classes. During my undergraduate career, I also worked as a research assistant in the Gunaratne Lab where I aided with aspects of Next Generation Sequencing assays for quality control of samples, and I was able to apply my theoretical knowledge hands-on in a research setting. After graduating I worked in special education at a STEM-focused elementary school where I grew my passion for supporting children with special needs in an array of areas. This job experience solidified my desire to become a pediatric genetic counselor and continue my journey of supporting children with special needs and their families. I am thrilled to be a part of BCM's genetic counseling class of 2025. I am open to talking with prospective students, and you can reach me best through my email!Log In to edit your profile
