Professional Statement
I completed my MD and PhD in Anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis. My doctoral dissertation focused on health system development and reproductive health care in low- and middle-income countries, based on field research conducted in Guatemala. Through graduate training, I developed expertise in qualitative and ethnographic research. I completed residency and served as Chief Resident at the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency (HAEMR) based at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. I have also served as a qualitative research consultant for non-governmental organizations and academic centers, including the Massachusetts General Hospital Disparities Research Unit and the Center for Research in Indigenous Health in Guatemala. As a researcher, I have held leadership roles in mentoring teams of research assistants, graduate, and medical students. My mentees have presented at several national meetings and have been co-authors on publications. As a junior career clinician-researcher, I am focused on access to health care and innovations in health care delivery for vulnerable populations.Websites
