Professional Statement
I am a third-year MD/PhD student (MS3) with 7 years of dedicated cancer biology research training. My experience includes investigating proton radiosensitivity in glioma stem cells, quantifying chemotherapy induced post-translational modifications in breast cancer, and developing gold nanoparticle vaccines for melanoma. I decided to pursue a career in medicine after volunteering as a Spanish-English medical interpreter, where I worked to ensure that language and cultural differences did not impede healthcare access for Spanish-speaking patients. This continues to motivate me as an MD/PhD student currently interested in pursuing pediatric hematology-oncology. I am looking forward to developing the clinical and research expertise necessary to translate basic science discoveries into novel cancer therapeutics that tangibly improve patient outcomes while also working to break down language and cultural barriers in accessing high-quality cancer care.Selected Publications
