Department Grand Rounds
The Department of Medicine grand rounds are held weekly, featuring local faculty as well as regional and national speakers. The guests speak on a wide range of topics germane to our internal medicine physicians, residents, fellows and other healthcare professionals who wish to remain current on procedures, research, patient care and innovations that keep Baylor College of Medicine at the forefront of healthcare, investigation and scholarship.
Presentations take place in a variety of forms, including lectures, case presentations, literature review, panel discussions and mystery cases.
During the academic period, Department of Medicine grand rounds are held every Thursday in the Michael E. DeBakey building, room M112, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.
Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Grand Rounds
The Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism holds biweekly grand rounds, which allow our fellowship trainees the opportunity to see a variety of patient cases as well basic science presentations.
Gastroenterology and Hepatology Grand Rounds
The Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology hosts weekly GI grand rounds. This interdisciplinary conference is held from 8-9 a.m. (CST) every Thursday at the Baylor College of Medicine Medical Center, McNair Campus, 7200 Cambridge St., Conference Room A/B, Houston, TX 77030.
Immunology, Allergy and Rheumatology Grand Rounds
The Immunology, Allergy and Rheumatology section maintains a dynamic schedule of grand rounds presentations, including those for the Biology of Inflammation Center, Immunology, and Rheumatology.
The Biology of Inflammation Center grand rounds are held on the first Wednesday of each month, focus on recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of allergy and immunologic diseases. These forums summarize practical application of the basic knowledge of immunity in clinical medicine while updating fundamentals in immunology, and note advances in immunological issues.

These grand rounds summarize practical application of the basic knowledge of immunity in clinical medicine, update fundamentals in immunology and note recent advances in immunological issues.
Rheumatology grand rounds, held monthly, are organized by the training program directors from the three rheumatology programs in the Texas Medical Center. The conferences provide education in basic and clinical science topics specified in the core curriculum, and provide trainees with an opportunity to develop their communication and resource skills.
Nephrology Renal Grand Rounds
A joint weekly Renal Grand Rounds is held every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Blue Bird Auditorium, Neurosensory Center of Houston (Jones Building), 6501 Fannin (first floor). This CME-eligible activity is attended by Baylor and Methodist/Cornell University faculty, fellows and residents, private nephrologists, and other allied health personnel, constituting an ongoing “city-wide” conference.
The first Wednesday of each month is dedicated to kidney biopsy presentations and discussions. Notable kidney biopsy cases (usually two cases per conference) of patients from any of the affiliated hospitals are presented and discussed, while the pathology is presented by an expert kidney pathologist. The remaining Wednesdays are dedicated to lectures by faculty and guest speakers. These lectures cover various topics in nephrology and typically focus on areas of controversies or novel insights and breakthroughs in nephrology. Topics covered include a mix of basic science and clinical research.
Department of Medicine Clinical Pathologic Conference
The Department of Medicine Clinical Pathologic Conference is held once a month for review of case studies, which focus on differential diagnosis, pathophysiology and pathology issues.
