Vascular Surgery Takes Home Top Awards at Wound Care Symposium

Top honors were awarded to Dr. Brian Lepow, assistant professor of surgery in the Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy, and Dr. Alejandro Zulbaran, an international medical graduate and research assistant in vascular surgery and a member of iCAMP, at the Spring Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) 2020.
Their collaborative research titled, “Effectiveness of Daily Home Electrical Stimulation as an Adjunctive Therapy to Accelerate Wound Healing in People with Diabetic Foot Ulcer - A Double-Blinded Randomized Controlled Trial” received two of the top prestigious awards, including top Oral/Podium Presentation and the Young Investigator Award. Dr. Lepow was awarded first place for the Oral/Podium Presentation from 308 submitted abstracts, and Dr. Zulbaran received the 2020 Young Investigator Award.
The SAWC meeting is a global event that brings together healthcare professionals that work on wound care (physicians, nurses, physical therapists, researchers, scientists, podiatrists, and dietitians) to educate, share expertise and improve patient outcomes.
