Susan Y. Green, M.P.H., lead project manager in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, was named a 2019 Michael E. DeBakey Fellow in the History of Medicine by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). Susan was awarded a $10,000 personal grant to cover her expenses to work onsite in the History of Medicine Division at the NLM for four weeks during 2019.

The NLM Michael E. DeBakey Fellowship in the History of Medicine was made possible through a generous gift from The DeBakey Medical Foundation. Dr. DeBakey was instrumental in bringing the NLM to the NIH campus and served for many years on its Board of Regents.

Susan joined the Department of Surgery in 2007 to support the clinical research efforts of Dr. Joseph S. Coselli, vice-chair for surgery and chief of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Houston and an MPH from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston’s School of Public Health.
