S. Rob Todd, M.D., professor of Surgery and chief of the Section of Acute Care Surgery, was inducted as president of the Southwest Surgical Congress at the 71st annual meeting held April 14-17, 2019, in Huntington Beach, CA.

Dr. Todd received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin in 1992 and then graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine with a Doctorate of Medicine in 1996. He remained in the Texas Tech University system where he completed his General Surgery residency in 2001.

Dr. Todd completed a Fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care from Oregon Health & Science University in 2003. During fellowship, his research focused on hemorrhagic shock and resuscitation.

Currently, Dr. Todd serves as chief of General Surgery and director of the Ginni and Richard Mithoff Trauma Center at Ben Taub Hospital. He also serves as the medical director of the Trauma/Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Ben Taub Hospital and program director for the Surgical Critical Care Residency Program at Baylor College of Medicine.
