Excellence in patient care honored at Baylor
Baylor College of Medicine honored its faculty leaders in patient care at the annual Faculty Awards Day, Thursday, May 16.
The awards included the Ben and Margaret Love Foundation Bobby Alford Award for Academic Clinical Professionalism, presented to Biykem Bozkurt, M.D., Ph.D., professor of medicine – cardiology and the Mary and Gordon Cain Chair of Internal Medicine in the Winters Center for Heart Failure Research.
Other clinical awards included the Early Career Award for Excellence in Patient Care for faculty with two to five years of experience, the Star Award for Excellence in Patient Care for faculty with at least six years of service and the Master Clinician Award for Excellence in Patient Care for faculty with at least 15 years of experience.
These awards were established by Dr. Paul Klotman, Baylor College of Medicine president, CEO and executive dean, to recognize faculty for their exemplary qualities of clinical excellence and expertise, consistent high level of patient care, professionalism, commendable leadership skills and service to the community.

The 2019 Graduating Class Outstanding Faculty Awards were presented to Dr. Uma Ayyala, Dr. Andrew Caruso, Dr. Stephanie Gordy, Dr. Matthew Novakovic, Dr. Ramachandr Reddy, Dr. Zaven Sargsyan and Dr. Stephanie Sherman.
