Dr. Groth to Serve on Editorial Board of The Annals of Thoracic Surgery
Dr. Shawn Groth, associate professor of surgery and associate chief for the Division of Thoracic Surgery was elected to serve a three-year term on The Annals of Thoracic Surgery Editorial Board as an associate editor for feature articles, which includes case reports, images in CT surgery reports, and “How to Do It” articles. The associate editors are responsible for overseeing the peer-review of nearly 1500 feature articles submitted to the annals every year, helping the authors receive timely decisions, and ensuring the peer-review process runs smoothly.
The focus of The Annals of Thoracic Surgery is to promote scholarship in cardiothoracic surgery patient care, clinical practice, research, education, and policy. As the official journal of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, one of the two largest American cardiothoracic surgical societies, this leading monthly surgical journal enjoys outstanding editorial leadership and maintains rigorous selection standards. In addition, he serves on the editorial boards of multiple major medical journals, including the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery and the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery.
Dr. Groth’s clinical research focuses on thoracic oncology clinical trials and health services research which focuses on identifying health care disparities and improving the quality of care.
