Baylor College of Medicine names new dean of School of Health Professions
Dr. Todd A. Reinhart has been named dean of the School of Health Professions at Baylor College of Medicine and will begin serving in this role on July 1, 2022. He will oversee the School’s four programs: Physician Assistant, Doctor of Nursing Practice – Nurse Anesthesia, Orthotics and Prosthetics and Genetic Counseling.
“Dr. Reinhart has a wealth of knowledge and experience that he will bring to this role and we are thrilled to have him serve as dean of the School of Health Professions,” said Dr. Jennifer Christner, senior dean of the School of Medicine and School of Health Professions at Baylor.
Reinhart previously served as interim dean at Minnesota State Community and Technical College, where he oversaw 15 clinical and technical education programs, including practical nursing, registered nursing, early childhood education and surgical technology.
Before that he served as dean of sciences and health professions at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, where he had leadership and oversight of the School of Health and Human Services and the John C. Parmer School of the Sciences. In this role he led the development and launch of multiple programs, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, a Master of Social Work program and an accelerated physician assistant studies program in collaboration with Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences.
Reinhart began his career as a researcher focusing on HIV/AIDS and the inflammation that it causes. His extensive work while on the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh has included research on an understudied vascular system, the lymphatic endothelium, and he has served as author or co-author on more than 95 peer-reviewed publications.
“Baylor College of Medicine is a top-tier institution and the caliber of its students, faculty and staff is well recognized,” Reinhart said. “I’m excited to be joining Baylor and focusing on a portfolio of four highly-ranked programs while also leveraging opportunities to expand on this foundation. I hope to bring my experience in research and new program development and contribute to the growth and continued success of the School of Health Professions.”
“Dr. Reinhart’s experience makes him the perfect person to lead the School of Health Professions and help us train the next generation of healthcare leaders,” said Dr. Paul Klotman, president, CEO and executive dean of Baylor.
