Crescentic Glomerulonephritis in Children, a Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium Study (H-36383)
Description
The goal of this study is to generate a national registry of children with a severe form of glomerulonephritis, called crescentic glomerulonephritis (GN). Patients with crescentic GN are known to progress to kidney failure more frequently than other forms of GN, requiring more chronic dialysis and kidney transplantation. However, there are many kidney diseases that can present as crescentic GN. The study hopes to determine whether patients should be treated based on etiology, or based on histopathology. Enrollment is ongoing as part of the Pediatric Nephrology Research Consortium (PNRC), and BCM is one of three lead centers participating (along with Nationwide Children's Hospital and Hackensack Meridian).
