About the Program
Primary care at Baylor College of Medicine is among the nation's prestigious programs, according to U.S. News and World Report's ranking. Our family medicine residency program uses all the assets at our disposal to provide the best possible learning experience for our trainees.
Our core program based in Houston has expanded to offer a rural health family medicine residency in Lufkin, Texas as well. At both locations, residents have the opportunity to engage in various clinical encounters with underserved populations. In Houston, the Northwest Community Health Center sees diverse patients from the Harris County area and residents also rotate at affiliated Texas Medical Center Hospitals. In Lufkin, St. Luke's Health – Memorial Hospital will serve the communities of East Texas.
Both residencies are strongly supported by well-rounded faculty who are dedicated to sharing their comprehensive knowledge of providing care in urban and rural settings. Faculty members help residents recognize health disparities to address the needs of patients. Residents learn firsthand how to incorporate advanced approaches to healthcare with guidance from faculty.
