Students and trainees at Baylor College of Medicine have the opportunity to gain experience in a diversity of clinical settings unsurpassed by any comparable institutions. Our affiliates include a public hospitals that draws ethnically diverse patients from throughout the region, the largest Veteran's Affairs medical center in the nation, a top ranked children's hospital, one of the highest ranked psychiatric hospitals, one of the top five rehabilitation centers in the nation, and one of the nation’s top ten centers for heart care.

Baylor College of Medicine also has relationships with care providers throughout Houston. These include facilities for homeless, elderly, orphans and other populations as well as private physician practices. Through various initiatives including Baylor Global Initiatives, the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative at Texas Children’s Hospital, the Texas Children’s Center for Global Health, and the Baylor College of Medicine National School of Tropical Medicine, our trainees gain access to training opportunities in Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe, Asia and elsewhere.

Our Private Adult Hospital

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center is the jointly owned and operated private adult hospital that is part of the St. Luke’s Health system. The medical staff at Baylor St. Luke’s includes full-time Baylor faculty, as well as community physicians. See Education at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center.

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center Texas Medical Center is the former St. Luke’s Medical Center, located on Bertner Street in the Texas Medical Center. It is an 850-bed hospital that offers a range of specialties. Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center - McNair Campus is expected to open in 2019, initially with 250 beds. The location is a new building built by Baylor on its McNair Campus. It has an outpatient component, which Baylor owns and operates independently, and the hospital, which will be built out in the coming months as a joint venture of Baylor and St. Luke’s.

Medical students, residents, fellows, physician assistant students and nurse anesthesia students have the opportunity to gain clinical experience at a number of health care facilities throughout Houston. These include large private physician practices as well as community health centers and long-term care facilities.
