Professional Statement
Scott joined the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine as the Supervisor of Medical Illustration in October 2001. The focus of his work is aortic and heart surgery and related clinical and basic science research. He works in a variety of media including vector and raster 2D illustrations, 3D modeling and animation, graphic design, and video production. He creates content for patient and physician education, presentations, publications (scientific journals and textbooks), grant applications, scientific posters, marketing, editorial, television, and web.With the Division’s high publication volume he has the distinction of having his work published in over 50 books and over 150 papers, and featured in over 100 scientific posters and over 350 oral presentations.
In addition to his duties at Baylor, Scott is actively involved in the Association of Medical Illustrators fulfilling leadership roles, serving on committees, and competing in the annual Salon competition. He has been awarded multiple times for his submissions to the Salon.
