Professional Statement

Dr. Mónica E. López has experience in all aspects of neonatal and pediatric surgery, with special training and clinical interest in minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgery, anorectal malformations, and gastrointestinal disorders, including surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease and endocrine surgery. Dr. López’s research interests focus on the design and implementation of retrospective and prospective pediatric surgical clinical outcomes studies. She regularly mentors residents and students in clinical research. She is also investigating the development of clinical research trials that lead to the implementation of evidence-based practice guidelines in the management of common pediatric surgical diseases and improved patient outcomes. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Clinical Research at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
