Minimally Invasive Pituitary Surgery

The Pituitary Center offers minimally invasive endoscopic pituitary surgery for pituitary and skull base tumors. Our team is highly experienced with purely endoscopic approaches that use natural pathways through the nose to achieve excellent surgical results without an incision.

The endoscope is a small thin tube with a camera and light source at its tip that allows surgeons to see structures deep in the sinus cavities, skull base, and brain directly and up close, without having to make a traditional large exposure. It allows experienced endoscopic neurosurgical teams to remove even large and deep tumors at the base of the skull without an incision.

Because the endoscope brings the camera up close to the tumor, and because it allows direct illumination and viewing angles that are far superior to what a traditional microscope can offer, the endoscopic approach not only makes surgery less invasive for patients, but it also typically gives surgeons a superior exposure and better view, allowing a better resection under direct vision.

This approach avoids unnecessary exposure and manipulation of the brain, and facilitates a rapid recovery and a shorter hospital stay, usually less than 24 hours.

We have the finest specialized endoscopic neurosurgery instrumentation including specialized instruments and the NICO Myriad system, and a team of surgeons and nurses who are highly experienced in this unique approach for brain surgery. Our results with this surgery have been outstanding.
