Section Overview
The Division of Diabetes and Endocrinology is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of infants, children and adolescents with diabetes, growth and physical maturation problems and disorders of the thyroid, pituitary, parathyroid and adrenal glands as well as those of the testes and ovaries, the education of future healthcare professionals, and the advancement of research.
The division offers a four-week elective to third- and fourth-year medical students who have completed their core pediatrics rotation. The elective program is based at Texas Children's Hospital, which provides inpatient and outpatient acute, emergent and subspecialty services.
We offer a four-week elective to second- and third-year pediatric residents.
With a total of nine fellows, our program is one of the largest pediatric endocrinology fellowships in the United States.
The Division of Diabetes and Endocrinology research is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of infants, children and adolescents with diabetes, growth and physical maturation problems and disorders of the thyroid, pituitary, parathyroid and adrenal glands as well as those of the testes and ovaries.
Research projects range from family and developmental factors impacting psychological and physical health outcomes in youth with type I and type II diabetes to diagnosis, endocrine treatment, genetics and psychological factors in disorders of sexual development.
