The great thing about the Department of Dermatology is we all find our work rewarding and feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of each day.

Our faculty are some of the best in the country. They are board certified experts in their various subspecialties, from pediatric dermatology to medical dermatology to Mohs surgery to cosmetic and procedural dermatology. We see a wide range of disorders from simple skin issues to very complex cases.

Our clinical services provide efficient, compassionate, patient-centered care and are offered in a variety of locations. We serve pediatric patients mainly at our Texas Children’s Hospital location, and see adult patients on an outpatient basis in the Jamail Specialty Care Center, Smith Clinic, and the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center. Inpatient hospital consultation and treatment are provided at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, Ben Taub Hospital, the Pavillion for Women, and the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

We recruit and train some of the top students interested in the field of dermatology. Our medical student rotations through our practices fill far in advance of the rotation. Attendance is high at lectures and Grand Rounds, which are held jointly with the Department of Dermatology at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. Our three year residency training program attracts very talented physicians who rank in the top five percent of dermatology residents nationally on their board exams. We offer post-residency fellowships in pediatric dermatology, dermatopathology, and procedural dermatology.
