Baylor receives SPORE grant renewal for breast cancer research
The National Cancer Institute has renewed the SPORE program in breast cancer awarded to Baylor’s Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center for more than $11 million over five years. About the Program
The Baylor College of Medicine Specialized Program of Research Excellence (SPORE) seeks to overcome fundamental treatment barriers that have slowed the progress of curing metastatic breast cancer by articulating cross-cutting objectives and working collaboratively.
Research Projects
Our SPORE includes three translational research projects.

These projects are supported by three shared resources:
- Pathology and Biobanking Core
- Informatics and Statistics Core
- Administration Core
This SPORE also supports a Career Enhancement Program to support junior investigators in translational breast cancer research and a Developmental Research Program to support innovative translational research.
