About the Lab
Research in Walker lab primarily focuses on molecular mechanisms of disease pathogenesis, primarily cancer, and includes studies exploring mechanisms underlying reproductive tract and kidney cancers, gene-environment interactions, and the epigenome as a target, and determinant, of health and disease.
Of particular interest are gene-environment interactions that contribute to development of disease and on understanding how environmental exposures change the activity of epigenetic programmers to induce developmental reprogramming of the epigenome. These studies utilize several NextGen sequencing technologies including ChIP-seq and RNA-seq, and associated bioinformatics. Dr. Walker’s research has been continuously funded by the NIH and DOD for more than 20 years.
