About the Center
The mission of the Houston Nutrition Obesity Research Center (H-NORC) is to enhance the multidisciplinary nature and quality of research in obesity and nutritional sciences by providing shared access to specialized services, resources, and expertise in Houston and Galveston greater metropolitan area. The following research cores and programs are available to Center members:
The Clinical and Translational Obesity Research Core will enhance and expand the translational research capabilities of investigators performing research studies in obesity and/or nutrition-related diseases.
The Cellular and Molecular Metabolism Core provides a broad range of cellular and molecular-based phenotyping studies using animal and human samples.
The Neuroendocrine Core provides consolidated facilities to manipulate genes, neurons and neural circuits in rodent brains and to characterize neuroendocrine phenotypes related to obesity and other nutritional dysregulations.
The Enrichment Program will provide the leadership, tools, and resources to support training and development of diverse, highly skilled clinical and basic scientists focused on obesity and nutrition.
