About the Program
The Graduate Certificate in Biomedical Sciences and Health Equity is a one-year program aimed at enhancing, developing, and enriching the academic knowledge base and skills of students prior to their entrance into medical and health professions school. Upon completion of the program, the goal is for a student to successfully matriculate into a M.D. or D.O. program or other health professions graduate degree program at an accredited U.S. institution.
The official dates for the Graduate Certificate in Biomedical Sciences and Health Equity program 2024-2025 are approximately July 29, 2024 through July 25, 2025. Orientation activities will take place during the last week of July 2024.
We welcome students from all science and math majors, and even non-science majors with appropriate pre-medical/health professions background and interest.
The development of the program was supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as part of a five-year $3.3 million award with 1 percent financed with non-governmental sources to establish a Center of Excellence in Health Equity, Training and Research at Baylor College of Medicine.
