About Us
The Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine is the largest adult practice department at Baylor College of Medicine with more than 600 faculty members in 14 sections, 10 centers, and seven vice-chair groups Founded in 1953, we are one of the largest education programs in the United States with more than 700 trainees and students, and highly competitive specialty fellowship training programs, including seven federally funded research training grants. Our healthcare providers see hundreds of thousands of patients in seven inpatient and outpatient facilities and our department’s clinical excellence is recognized in U.S. News and World Report. Our departmental research initiatives span the continuum of biomedical research from basic to clinical, attracting $86 million in total extramural funding, including more than $50 million from the NIH as well as other federal sources.

Education
The Department of Medicine offers an Internal Medicine Residency, medicine-related fellowship programs, undergraduate medical education, continuing education and grand rounds.
Occupational Health Program
We provide health services and information to Baylor College of Medicine employees and learners. A few of our services are available to the public such as flu vaccinations.
