Grand Rounds and Faculty Meetings

A departmental Grand Rounds session is scheduled on the second Tuesday of every month, except for July, October, January, and April due to department faculty meetings. Each session is held virtually via Zoom and learners receive one hour of CME credit for participation.

Annual Primary Care Update

Content

The Primary Care Update is a one-day event providing evidence-based advice in a non-commercial setting. The conference offers 7.0 AMA Category 1 CME credits from the American Academy of Family Physicians. Also, 1.0 Ethics credit is provided.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Trainings

Content

The Collaborative for Alcohol-Free Pregnancy and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers a free, online continuing education courses on fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. The courses target practitioners in primary care, integrated care, school and university clinics, and other clinical settings.

Mental Health and Social Services Resource Manual

Content

From Summer 2020 through Spring 2023, free trainings were offered to the public and various groups to increase mental health awareness in our local communities. Topics involving mental health were explored, such as childhood experiences, domestic violence, natural disasters, self-care, and substance abuse. A manual was also developed, including resources for mental health and social services in Greater Houston.
